Jianghai Ho
American-trained tenor Jianghai Ho is scheduled to appear as Secondo soldato and Lucano in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea, and as Goro in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. He has appeared most recently as Oronte in Handel’s Alcina, and in Michael Ching’s comic opera “Speed Dating Tonight!” with Fargo Moorhead Opera. Previous engagements have included Vaudemont in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta with Chicago Opera Theater (cover), tenor soloist in Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Nerone in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea, Orfeo in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Abraham Kaplan in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, and Dr. Blind in Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus with DePaul Opera Theater. He has also performed with Chicago Symphony Chorus under the direction of Maestri Riccardo Muti and Marin Alsop, and the Duke Vespers Ensemble in Dietrich Buxtehude’s rarely-performed Membra Jesu Nostri at the Boston Early Music Festival. Born in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Jianghai made his operatic debut as The Representative in Seymour Barab’s comic opera A Game of Chance while under the tutelage of Susan Dunn at Duke University, and subsequently completed his graduate studies at DePaul University.
